The book was just... Okay. I can't hate it but I don't ever read it again either. It was just Okay. It was bland, the world was very hard to visualize in my head and the characters felt all very one note and interchangeable. They also spoke strangely as well. "You are not" "I can not" was tossed around a lot. Never: "I'm" always: "I am." It comes off very old worldly which if this is a Dystopian it's supposed to take place in the future, which with mentions of plastic and diving, electricity to a point then it feels very out of place. The characters acted like very young children instead of the young adults they were supposed to be. It was a good attempt, but it needs work. Like I said... It was okay, but it wasn't a strong Dystopian. Show don't tell, which a lot of this was just rambling by the characters. World building has to be carefully laid out and this was just... Okay. Not strong world building, not strong enough I don't think to keep going. The girls stopped being main characters after a certain point and it felt like the conflicts were resolved too easily. I actually would peg this more as a book for middle grade instead of young adult.. Sorry.

Water Saga Part 1 A Post Apocalyptic Story eBook Claretta Maynard Reviews

This story was very very good. Way too short though. I would categorize this story as dystopian/end of world fiction. Can't wait to read the next book.
Neutral feelings about this book....I'm not sure if I actually like it or not. It is a very different take on our future world and, although it wasn't a boring story, it fleshy quite make me want to continue onto the next book in this series. The characters are unlike many futuristic personalities I've read in the past and it does have some suspenseful situations, but I'm not wild about the writing.
This is a good start to what looks like it may be an interesting post apocalyptic series. It is well written and cohesive and the chracter development is well done in what would be the first few chapters of a full length book. I will look forward to seeing more in this series.
I had high hopes afater reading the description. The premise of the story is a great idea. I downloaded them because my family is from West Va (in the Appalachian Mountains). I was very shocked at the short length of the first one and how it ended. The second one didn't pick up right where it left off (in my opinion), then when the second one ended so suddenly, I was very upset. It is doubtful I'll purchase the rest of this series, I prefer the entire story to be told in one sitting. It would be nice if it was ONE long book, instead of just chapters. I don't want to buy chapters, but an actual book. Needs more development, though the idea is a good one, and unique from others that I have read, just needs more meat.
This is a simple story of a dystopian land where it rains almost constantly and the waters have risen to encompass most of the land. Two sisters struggle with day to day survival. One is okay with staying where she is and the other inquisitive.

I would say this is a young adult story as the story is a simply writing style. It does tend to repeat itself and maybe that is for the younger reader. It is a cliff hanger, I didn't find this suspenseful...again written to youth. I couldn't relate to the characters. The story was told not shown.
I enjoyed this short story (1st in a series and free on now) that shows a different type of apocalypse than what I have read in the last few years-NO ZOMBIES in site. And although I love a good zombie tale this was a welcome change. It kept me interested and I plan to buy the next in series (.99 on at this time). The language seemed a bit stilted when the characters were speaking but otherwise the only thing I didn't like was the length. Of course, I always want more words if I like a book so maybe that's not a bad thing, after all.
This is more of a novella but even as that, it is inadequate due to it's brevity. It took me less than 2 hours to read. Obviously this is truncated from a larger work.because it abruptly drops off before a peak event is explored. The premise is a good one--it's why I took the time to read it to begin with--but the writing shows inexperience. It is event driven with little character development. The minor events used to move the story along occur and resolve way too quickly (i.e. the "showdown" with Merth, the Mayor changing her mind about the exploration). The dialogue often sounds unnatural. Lastly, I twice read the word, "encase" (which means to physically enclose something) where it should have read, "in case" (the possibility of a unexpected event or outcome). Once, I chalked it up as a typo. Twice, and I knew that the author didn't know the difference and unfortunately, it interfered with the story. This author could have some talent but it's hard to tell with so much editing that needs to be done. I mean editing, not proofreading (it needs that too). But to make the best use of this terrific premise, this story needs hard-core structural alterations and a lot more writing to fill out all those hasty spots. I do love the cover art though.
